Our country promises to execute IE2 and above standards from July 1, 2011.

With China's accession to the WTO, China's motor industry is facing great pressure and challenges from the international community. At present, China's industrial energy consumption accounts for about 70% of the total energy consumption, of which the motor energy consumption accounts for about 60%~70% of industrial energy consumption, plus the non industrial motor energy consumption, the actual energy consumption of the motor accounts for more than 50% of the total energy consumption. Nowadays, the proportion of high-efficiency energy-saving motors is low. According to the national small and medium-sized motor quality supervision and Inspection Center for domestic key enterprises of 198 motors sampling survey, of which reached more than 2 efficient energy-saving motor only 8%. This has caused great waste to the whole society.

Institutions have done calculations, if all motor efficiency increased by 5%, then the annual savings of 76 billion 500 million kwh of electricity, this figure close to the Three Gorges power generation in 2008. Therefore, the energy-saving motor industry development space, demand strong. On the policy side, the National Standardization Management Committee issued the mandatory standard "energy efficiency limit value and energy efficiency grade of GB 18613-2012 middle and small three-phase asynchronous motors" in 2012.
